Unfortunately, we see this show in fits and spurts because different networks pick the different series up (so they don't get played in any particular sequence).
But hasn't it been a great series?
I've found some celebrities geneaology absolutely fascinating; but, I don't know about you - I've found some of the celebrities themselves to be rather boring! LOL
Some time back there was an episode about a model (Jodie Kidd) who could trace her family back to those on the `Mayflower' and being a founding family of one of the first townships in America. Amazing!
And Ainsley Harriot, the chef, who had black slaves and both black and white slave traders in his family. His emotional journey was a real see-saw.
I thought Merra Syal's journey was interesting too. I think she found India too much. It must be different being Indian in the UK than that of and Indian living amongst a population of India's size and caste system.
And poor Patsy Kinset. Imagine having the Kray twins popping in for a cuppa!
So far I've seen:
Ainsley Harriott David Suchet Esther Ranzen Jodie Kidd Jerry Springer Boris Johnson Patsy Kensit Jeremy Clarkson John Hurt Sue Johnston Grif Rhys-Jones Robert Lindsay Graham Norton Bill Odie Julia Sawalha Meera Syal David Tennant Rory Bremner Rick Stein Zoe Wannamaker Kevin Whately
Haven't seen (yet):
Moira Bruce Lawrence Llewelen Bowen David Baddiel Nicky Campbell Gurinder Chadha Julian Clary Stephen Fry Lesley Garrett Sheila Hancock Ian Hislop Jane Horrocks Colin Jackson Alistair McGowan Jeremy Paxman Matthew Pinsent Amanda Redman Vic Reeves Moira Stuart Carol Vorderman
David Dickinson ) Jeremy Irons ) Natasha Kaplinky ) Nigella Lawson ) Barbara Windsor )
) = I think these are some of the celebrities coming up.
I also like to watch this - we have in Belgium a similar series but than of famous people's family history during the war. And its often also tell of shocking stories like those who's ancestors 'helped' the Nazi regime that occupied Belgium from 40 - 45. What I like about this kind of series is the fact you learn a lot of history on a personal bases and often come across new historical facts that you didn't know!
You certainly do learn a lot of history through series like this.
I have found some of the most emotional stories are the ones that have lost family in the war and I guess that is because I can't even imagine the horror of war.
I think too, that it is strange how some feel `guilty' over the antics of their ancestors. You can't take the blame for something you didn't do; but it certainly makes interesting viewing.
I love this series too. We've just seen Kate Humble - her family was very interesting and came as a complete surprise to her. It was a very emotional journey for her.
