Opera star Russell Watson is to go on a UK tour later this year after ending treatment for a brain tumour.

The Salford-born performer will appear at 13 venues, beginning in Glasgow on 9 June and stopping off at Manchester's MEN Arena on 19 June.

The 41-year-old tenor will end his tour at Newcastle City Hall on 7 July.

Watson had five weeks of radiotherapy at the start of the year after a tumour was discovered. It was feared the surgery would destroy his career.

Doctors were forced to operate by going through his mouth because they had gone through his nose to remove an earlier tumour 12 months previously.

The tour will also include dates in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Oxford, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Brighton and Cardiff.

Watson recently wrote on his website that he was writing a book to "set the record straight and say my piece on a couple of things - I might put one or two noses out of joint, but so be it".

He also wrote: "There are all kinds of other plans afoot that I don't think I can reveal yet. Album (cough).... Watch this space!"

This is excellent news So pleased he's made a full recovery

I know I'm getting better at golf because I'm hitting fewer spectators.
