Martin will be with Jenny Seagrove on stage at the Theatre Royal Windsor July 20th-31st in the award winning play "The Country Girl". Martin originally appeared in this in 1983 playing then the younger part of the director, this time I think he will play Frank Elgin, the alcoholic actor. I already have my tickets, can't wait

It is also on in Milton Keynes in August, but booking is not open to the public yet, only to friends.

Yes, I've got my ticket!
An interesting thing I discovered...don't know if it works with all theatres. Booking for the public opened at 9.00 am but I went on the website at 7.00am and was able to book. It was well booked then for the performance I wanted, so I think I've done ok.

Well done Sandie - I hope you enjoy it

I know I'm getting better at golf because I'm hitting fewer spectators.

It seems that "The Country Girl" will be touring around the country between July - October, not sure if they will be adding any more. I have tickets for Windsor and also Brighton (which isn't far from me). Hopefully it will go to London although no definate news on that yet. Very exciting for people, like me, who love to see Martin & Jenny working together.

After "The Country Girl" has done a short tour of Britain, it then opens in the West End at the Apollo Theatre from October 2010. Very exicting news. I'll have to start saving for more tickets etc.

Went to see Martin in "The Country Girl" on Wednesday/Thursday - very powerful performance. Also great performances from Jenny Seagrove and Mark Letheren. Martin was exceptional and I loved every minute. Going again in September when it hits Brighton - can't wait.

Sorry I'm having a bit of a moan...
Is it just me, or do a lot of actors "drop out" of plays ill? I seem doomed not to see the people I have booked to see (Roy Marsden, Simon Shepherd(not ill just left) and now Martin Shaw)
Martin is the latest casualty, although saying that he is supposed to be returning to Milton Keynes on Tuesday (I'm going on Wed).

I do feel a bit miffed as the tickets are not cheap, and I'm travelling over 60 miles to get there, and going for the actor, not the play.

Hi I can understand your frustration but I have it on good authority that Martin was very very unwell. Chest infection and a broken rib. This is the first time in 45 years that he has not appeared as scheduled. I am happy to say that he was back in stage at Milton Keynes last night Hopefully everything will be ok from now on.

Sorry about throwing the toys out of the pram!
Went this afternoon and Martin gave a truely wonderful and moving performance; Jenny Seagrove was brilliant as his supportive wife and Mark Letheren certainly brought to life the dynamic Bernie Dodds.
My only critisism was the american accents, which meant at times it was difficult to catch all that was said, but all in all not to be missed.

I'm going to see it in Birmingam as well; it will be interesting to see if my critisism re sound quality was the theatre or the accents.
I have never had any problem with sound at MK before but sat in the circle rather than the stalls - it's not my local theatre, so have only been there about 5 times.
